We plan on continuing to develop new gluten-free products that help to change the perception of what gluten-free baking can be, all the while maintaining our 100% gluten-free facility, where everything is delicious and safe to eat. Over the last thirteen years, our understanding of eating and baking gluten-free has grown immensely, and so has our menu. In addition to our gluten awareness, we train all our employees about the risk of cross-contamination from other allergens. As part of our commitment to being 100% gluten free, we do extensive ingredient research to ensure that everything we use, as well as our facility, is clean of gluten. In 2017 the bakery moved again, to 140 NE Broadway St., to make room for a larger production facility and a retail shop. With this move came a name change, to celebrate the original Gems: Anne’s daughters Greta and Emma Miller. By April of 2011, the bakery had outgrown its SW Corbett location and moved to N. Owner Anne Miller started baking gluten free at Corbett Coffee Plant in 2006 when her daughter was first diagnosed with Celiac Disease. Gluten Free Gem is an independent, family run bakery located in Portland’s Lloyd District. Changes here are always on the slow side to give customers and our business some time to adjust. We are not currently offering dine-in service with for-here plates/cups, and tables are not currently setup for dining inside. Masks are available for any guests who forget to bring their own. Masks are optional anytime after 10:00am, but they are preferred. We have set aside the first two hours of the day as Masks Required hours in an effort to give folks who are immune-compromised a safer shopping option. *Call or check social media for holiday hours. Just swing by our shop or give us a call same-day to set something aside. Looking for just one slice of cake or a couple cinnamon rolls? No problem! We bake fresh daily and have treats available every day of the week on a first-come first-served basis.
